With more than 100 years of combined experience designing optical systems and control software, the scientists and engineers at Sibelloptics provide solutions to the technical challenges faced by a wide range of demanding industries. Over the years the staff at Sibelloptics has designed and built on and off-axis telescopes, LIDAR transceivers, high energy lasers, and long range chemical detection sensors. Our staff has also developed software needed to reliably operate, monitor, and process the data associated with sophisticated optical instruments. Sibelloptics recently completed two Phase I research programs for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The first, titled Compact Fiber LIDAR for Wake Vortex Detection, detected aerosols as close as 50 meters and as far away as 2km with pulse energies less than 35 micro Joules. The success of this program and the innovations developed during it, helped lead to a follow-on Phase II effort, which enabled Sibelloptics to develop a LIDAR transceiver capable of detecting aerosols at distances over 12 km with pulse energies exceeding 400 micro Joules. The second program, titled Novel Hemispherical Scanner for a Coherent Fiber LIDAR System, yielded an optical instrument with a beam pointing position repeatability of 35 micro-radians. The success of this program also led to a follow-on Phase II effort.
